Youth Work that Works
Whitepoint Beach Resort, Liverpool, May 20th - 22nd
Would you like to experience youth work that works? Would you like to learn from others who are already engaging youth in ways that produce outcomes and results with youth and funders? Would you like to collaborate with a larger community of people committed to creating innovative youth programming? This is a training for adults working with youth and youth leaders working with their peers. The training is based on years of work and experience in our communities with youth. We feel by calling this gathering we can share what we have been learning, learn from others who are doing good work and surface people like us, who are seeking to innovate in the youth field. Click here for the invitation YWTW Invite.pdf and contact Tim for info: tim@oftheshire.org .
The training is being called by Leave Out ViolencE (Halifax, NS, Canada), Split Rock Learning Centre (Yarmouth, NS, Canada), The Chill Zone (Gloucester, MA, USA) and the Nova Scotian Child and Youth Strategy and Youth Secretariat.

Youth Work that Works Community of Practice
July (dates TDB), the Shire
We are bringing together pioneering youth organisations from across North Eastern USA and Canada to explore how we can together transform the dominant culture of youth work. We are seeking to mobilize together and transform the dominant culture of youth organising. What is the support youth need to lead the way and own their own destiny in our region? How can we ensure any change we make lasts into the future? How can we create the conditions for sustained innovation and growth in youth organising and engagement?
Much has been accomplished in recent years, yet we are still faced with some challenges. The service model in our communities is not serving youth, young leaders and adults working with youth are burning out and many of us feel like we are working in isolation. What can we do together that is not possible alone? What are the leverage areas for change across the our region? How can we amplify what is already working for positive impact for all who are leading in youth work across the region? How can we build resilient community leaders, activists and change agents?
None of us can create large scale change alone - the time of the lone wolf is over. In an era of great uncertainty and with increasingly interdependent and complex issues, we cannot know the outcomes ahead of time. Contact Tim for more info: tim@oftheshire.org .
